pyrenean thru hike part 2
telling my journey trying to cross the pyrenees by foot part 2
on 2025 I decided to attempt the second half remaining on my thru hike. i began from the exact point i left it a year before. it took 3 car sharings to get to the relatively remote village. but i did get there at 8pm on that day. the next day the adventure would begin.
Day 0
my journey started once again from Alicante, Spain. I carpooled 3 times before arriving to my destination, Bielsa. I got there late in the day so I posponed the first walk for the next day. I stayed at the Bielsa Camping.
I will not be posting the routes this time because I did change them on the go and they wheren’t stored.

Day 1
I woke up early and began walking to Puerto de Chistau, highest point of the day at 2572m.

I continued downhill when suddenly I began feeling deezy and a pretty bad stomach pain. I made my way to Refugio de Estòs where they kindly provided me with a room for the night. I suspected I drank bad water.
Day 2
The next day I was feeling a lot better. I had a quick breakfast at the refure and parted way towards the valley.

Continuing I got into HRP and began the ascent towards a 3000m peak. The way there was a rocky and very steep terrain.

I summited Pic du Molières around 4:30pm.

I started descending down Val de Molières where I lost a threking pole due to the climbing section at the very beggining of the path. Maybe someone finds it someday.
I finally arrive to my shelter that day Refugio de Molières where I spent the night sharing the place with three more people.

I may add I really enjoyed this stay, it was a really nice and peacefull place.
Day 3
Next day I woke up early to an amazing view. I started my descent which was beautiful. At some point I stopped near the river where I had a quick shower with the freezing water from the glacier nearby.

I arrived to the valley at Vielha parking where I changed a little my route. I decided to cross the “empty” tunnel instead of following the trail. It made the walk much shorter.

It was a bit unnerving crossing this empty tunnel. It felt really cold. In total it took me 45min.

I finally arrived on Vielha where I had breakfast and restocked for a couple days of food.
I passed Salardú and began ascending on the HRP variant. The weather started changing from sunny to a dense fog. I wouldn’t get to my destination on time that day, so I stopped mid way when I spotted a couple french camping by a lake. I spent the night there with great company.

Day 4
It was a clear morning and I could see my way to the next point.

I continued through rocky terrain, a little isolated also. I arrived to Alòs village and after some resting I started my final stretch of the day. I coulnd’t arrive to refuge so I stayed mid way by a lake camping on my own. Really fascinating.

Day 5
I continued an arrived on Tavascán that day.

I spent the night at a camping.
Day 6
Big day, I was arriving to Andorra. I passed very close to Comapedrosa, highest point in the country.

I arrived to Andorra la Vella where I ate the local food… and spent the night at a hotel.

I touristed around a bit but didn’t find much to do that day. It felt I step out the wild for a day.
Day 7
I got onto GR11 again towards Puigcerdà. It was an easier day as was mostly descend. I came across a refuge but decided to continue a little further to camp freely inside a forest.

Day 8
I arrived on Puigcerdà and had a quick break. I continued as a I left the highest mountains behind in the distance.

That night I slept at a cabin with other people. Quite nice being in the pure wild again.
Day 9
The next day I spent hiking as normal, but towards the end I found it difficult to find a place to sleep. Finally I spent the night here:

Not a luxorius place for sure.
Day 10
I decided to end my trip here. The reason why is that I felt I was reaching less interesting areas and the mountains and nature where not that impressive anymore. I really enjoyed it. s
